Strokestown GAA Team Information

Currently we are represented at Senior, Intermediate and Junior level. We are the only Roscommon Club to have both a senior and intermediate team, let alone have a team in all three grades.

Manager:  Pat Doorey

Pat was full-back for Roscommon for 13 years, from 1982 to `95, winning two Connacht senior medals, as well as Connacht medals at U-21 and Minor level. Pat managed his home club Éire Óg for three years before being approached by Strokestown. His arrival was just the catalyst we needed to ensure Strokestowns return to the top of Roscommon football.

The introduction of Pat Doorey as team manager paved the way for a very successful year in 2002.

Only a few years ago (2000) our intermediate team was Strokestowns first team, since then we have seen both our Intermediate team and our Junior team achieving promotion. This year, the first year with our second team at intermediate level, we were unlucky not to progress further in the championship, but did well to stay up. See the year summary.

Last year Gerry Hagan organised the development of Strokestowns first ever third team, a testament to both the time and effort Gerry put into the club, and the ever increasing interest and numbers of our younger (and older!) players.

Last year the under 21's were unlucky not to win the second division final after losing by a point ot Kilmore in a replay. This year all but two of last years team are still underage. Unfortunately the team, who have been highly successful as an underage team (see history here), were not allowed to compete in the first division, as they have done all the way up the age grades, but if won would still be the towns first U-21 title.
