Strokestown
0-07
St.
Failtheachs 1-03 Strokestown
came out on top of this low scoring match with
neither team performing to standard. Only a
selection of players from both sides appeared to
be in the game, with the scoreline reading St.
Failtheachs 1-0 Strokestown 0-02 with ten
minutes to go in the first half. Two of the
better scores of the game followed, leaving the
score at half time Strokestown 0-3, St.
Failtheachs 1-1. The
second half started brightly but was quickly
turned into a farce by indicipline on both sides
and some incredulous refereeing. The
match then was reduced to consistant fouling,
there was a few brief moments of good football
from Hagan, Ronie Shiel, KevinJ, Rogers and
Ronan Owens. The backs in general played well,
but with the loss of two players didn't help.
With only one point in it at any one time the
game was anyones up until the final whistle.
Strokestown did well to claw their way into the
lead, Failtheachs pressed ahead relentlessly for
the final minutes, though every time Strokestown
cleared the danger and expected to hear the well
due final whistle, they were faced with an other
attack. In
the end they weathered the storm to emerge
deserving winners, and now go on to a semi-final
spot. With St. Brigids cruising past Kilmore,
Kilbride facing Pearses this evening, and the
losers group to be decided, there is plenty to
happen before we know who we face next. One
things for sure, todays match will be best
