McPhillips
to the fore
THIS
North Board Junior B Final was a well contested
game of football with the final score doing
scant justice to a young game Boyle fifteen.
North
Junior B Final
Strokestown 1-11 Boyle 1-5
Strokestown, however, well deserved their
victory and it is a fair reflection of the
strength of football within this club that their
third team would win this final they will prove
difficult opponents for whatever team represents
the South in the County Final. Their team was a
mixture of youth and experience and in their
captain, the veteran Ronan McPhillips they had
the dominant player on the pitch and he
inevitably won the Man-of-the-Match award.
He was ably assisted by Mark Dolan, Bernie
Flanagan, Fergal McGinley, James Carr,
goalscorer Marcus Kirwan and free-taker Trevor
Lyttle. Boyle's young side who missed the
injured Alan Tiernan in the first half, were
best served by David Monson, Kieran Conlon,
Tadhg Egan, Daragh Greenan, Shane Spellman and
Tiernan in the second half.
